If you would like to influence the direction of the local party activities including fundraising, volunteer recruitment and community events then a precinct officer position is for you. If you would like to attend causes and conventions to vote in straw polls, endorse candidates and vote on the party constitution and platform then a delegate or alternate position is for you. You can be elected to both an officer AND a delegate (or alternate) position. Precinct Officers Precinct officers are the local grassroots leadership of Minnesota Republican party. Precinct officers actively recruit activists and volunteers within their precincts in addition to fundraising and making leadership decisions within the local Republican organization. The roll of a Precinct Officer is an on-going TWO YEAR commitment. Available Officer Positions Each precinct may elect up to FIVE officers (chair/co-chair (1 or 2), vice chairs (1 or 2), secretary (1)) during an even-year (2008, 2010, 2012) caucus. It is the responsibility of the precinct officers to assist with all volunteer operations at the precinct level. Officers are also expected to attend re-occurring local party meetings. All precinct officers MUST be able to dedicate at least one night per month to local party activities and meetings. This is a minimum requirement and during campaign years a greater commitment is often asked of officers. Precinct Delegates Precinct delegates and alternates are expected to attend local city, congressional and state conventions (as applicable) to vote to endorse candidates for local and state races. Delegates are also expected to assist with local party activities whenever possible. The role of Precinct Delegate is an on-going TWO YEAR commitment.
